Big Bud, an indica-dominant hybrid with enormous, sticky blooms and a potent body high, lives up to its name. Big Bud is thought to have started as a probable cross between the early staple strains Afghani, Haze, and Northern Lights in the United States in the 1980s. It soon gained popularity in the then-dark market. Big Bud was sent to the Netherlands, a cannabis-friendly country, by intrepid aficionados during the Nixon and Reagan administrations' War on Drugs, where it was fostered and genetically stabilized. Thankfully, Big Bud has endured and has regained appeal in the United States. In 1989, the strain took home the top honors in the "Mostly Indica" category of the second High Times Cannabis Cup. Big Bud has a THC content that ranges from 15% to 20%. Big Bud plants can reach heights of up to 7 feet, matching the grandeur of its enormous blossoms.
